Rochester’s building and development landscape continues to evolve, thanks to Mayo Clinic’s multibillion-dollar “Bold. Forward. Unbound.” initiative, and Rochester Area Builders (RAB) has been evolving right alongside it.
Since January 2025, the association has taken several steps to strengthen its programs, sharpen its local focus, and deliver greater value to members. This includes formally departing the Builders Association of Minnesota (BAM)/National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) federation, allowing RAB to operate with greater agility and alignment to the specific needs of Rochester’s housing and construction community.
RAB has also completely refreshed the Home & Outdoor Show, reimagining the event to better connect builders, businesses, and homeowners. Early feedback and attendance trends point to renewed energy and strong community interest.
Alongside the show’s transformation, RAB launched a fully revised website and significantly enhanced its social media presence—expanding digital reach, improving communication, and elevating member visibility.
On the advocacy front, meaningful progress has been made in collaboration with the City of Rochester on multiple industry issues. To further amplify its voice at the state level, RAB partnered with Northern Minnesota Builders and Mid-Minnesota Builders to jointly hire a lobbyist at the Capitol, ensuring regional priorities are clearly represented in legislative conversations.
Momentum is building in other ways as well. Over the past year, RAB has welcomed 13 new home builders into membership, reflecting growing confidence in the association’s direction. The organization is also excited to partner with Housing First Minnesota on the Parade of Homes in Rochester, continuing its commitment to showcasing all Rochester’s housing market has to offer.
